Baptism at St. Timothy’s
Baptism in the Episcopal Church – As John baptized Jesus in the Jordan river, so too do we celebrate it as a sacred rite in the Episcopal Church. The bond which God establishes in this scared rite is indissoluble. Holy Baptism is administered within the Eucharist as the chief service on a Sunday or other feast day, but not during the Lenten season. Each candidate may be sponsored by one or more baptized persons. Sponsors of adults and older children endorse their candidate’s intention and promise to support them in their Christian life through prayer and example. Adults wishing to be baptized undertake a course of instruction and spiritual preparation leading to baptism.
