About the Perrysburg Area

Perrysburg is a historic, suburban community located south of Toledo, Ohio and on the South Bank of the Maumee River. The population was 25,041 at the 2020 census. It is one of the fastest growing cities in Northwest Ohio and now the largest suburb of Toledo. With close proximity to Toledo, the river, and several area universities there is a wide array of educational, recreational, and cultural activities.

The Community

Few Midwest towns rival Perrysburg’s charm and sense of place. The vibrant, historic downtown area changes with the seasons: fall and winter bring annual festivals and events including the ice sculpture-filled WinterFest, October BooFest, International Festival, and Homecoming; the warmer months feature the extremely popular Thursday afternoon farmer’s market, which comprises dozens of vendors, food trucks, and live music, Friday evening car shows on the Commodore lawn, and Monday evening “Slow Rollers” community bide rides. Perrysburg is also home to historic sites such as Fort Meigs, community gems like the 577 Foundation (a garden, arts, and education center), music groups including the Perrysburg Chorale and Perrysburg Symphony Orchestra, city parks, the Way Public Library, and a wealth of independent, locally-owned restaurants. (Most Perrysburg residents have a favorite ice cream shop.) Outside the I-475 beltway, the Levis Commons center boasts numerous shops, restaurants, and a movie theater. Nearby Toledo’s offerings are just a few minutes up the road.

Perrysburg Schools

Perrysburg Schools are widely recognized for their excellent academic, fine and performing arts and athletic programs. The school system is considered to be among the finest in the state. Perrysburg was graded A+ and ranked #24 in Ohio in Niche’s 2021 Suburbs with the Best Public Schools in Ohio, based on state test scores, graduation rates, SAT/ACT scores, teacher quality, and student and parent reviews. There are four elementary schools, one intermediate, one junior high, and one high school. LEARN MORE.
