Frequently Asked Questions

May I receive communion?

All visitors who are baptized regardless of the Christian Church in which they were baptized and regardless of the church in which they are currently members, are invited to join the congregation at the altar rail to make their communion. We ordinarily receive the communion kneeling at the rail. However some, because of physical constraint or personal preference, stand at the rail.

How do I receive communion?

At the altar rail, the Sacrament of the Lord's body will be placed in your extended hand. You may consume it immediately or wait and dip it in the smaller of the two chalices and then consume it. If you want to receive the Sacrament of the Lord's blood from the common cup (the larger of the two chalices), please extend one hand and grasp the base of the larger chalice in order to help guide the chalice to your lips and to tip it sufficiently for you to receive.

Communicants remain in place at the altar rail until all at their rail have received.

Children who do not yet receive communion should be instructed by their parents to press their crossed forearms to their chests. The priest will bless them.

Should I stand or kneel or sit for prayer?

The freedom is yours regarding your posture for prayer. Ordinarily we stand or kneel for prayer, but if your custom is to remain seated, please follow your preference.
