Building
& Grounds Committee
Participants
in this Vestry-led committee are responsible for
the upkeep of the church buildings and grounds
including: electrical, plumbing, heating, cleaning,
painting, landscaping, lawn and tree care and
snow shoveling. This committee is also responsible
for overseeing the development and maintenance
of the columbarium.
The Sexton,
who is guided by the committee in the needs of
the church, is responsible for light repairs,
maintenance and deep cleaning, as well as overseeing
outside contractors. The Sexton also directs individual
volunteers on three annual church Workdays. These
Workdays, in April, October and January, provide
an opportunity for volunteers to contribute to
the maintenance of the church. Projects include
repairs, window washing, polishing, changing screens
and storm windows, painting and specific deep
cleaning requirements.
Male and
female volunteers with electrical, plumbing, cleaning,
light carpentry, painting and general fixing and
repairing skills are welcome. In addition, the
committee is looking for someone with a general
knowledge of landscaping, who can find his or
her way around a nursery and has the ability to
negotiate simple contracts. The committee meets
once a month.
