A Brief History of St. Timothy's

Founding members of St. Timothy's

2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of St. Timothy's. It was founded as a mission of the Diocese of Ohio. Since the new mission was indebted to St. Paul's, Maumee for most of its original members, the choice of Saint Timothy as its patron was deemed a appropriate name. Biblically, Saint Timothy had been a young associate of Saint Paul.

The members began worshipping in March of 1962 at the First Presbyterian Church in Perrysburg, and continued meeting there until March 1, 1964, when the congregation moved to the facility it occupies today.

During the early years, St. Timothy's experienced

remarkable growth.  By 1969, the congregation had attained financial self-sufficiency and, in 1970, was granted parish status by diocesan convention. The rectory was also completed in the summer of 1970. Since that time, St. Timothy's has undergone two major expansions in 1985 and 1995.

St. Timothy's is located on several wooded acres. It's New England-like architecture features a large brick wall which surrounded the tree-filled courtyard. The courtyard has hosted receptions, worship services, fellowship, and outreach activities.
